10 Places to Visit in Bali that Will Amaze You

The following list of 'must visit' places might not amaze all of you, but it certainly amazed me. This list is not objectively measure the quality of each places. However, if you are a first-time visitor, you are advised to highly considering to visit the following 10 places in Bali. 

 

1. Uluwatu Cliff

Pura Luhur Uluwatu (Uluwatu Temple) is Bali's most spectacular temple located high on a cliff top at the edge of a plateau 250 feet above the waves of the Indian Ocean. It is where the pilgrimage of Dang Hyang Nirartha came to an end as the High Priest shed his natural human form and achieved a conscious death nearest to the home of the God Baruna, Guardian of the Southern Seas.

2. Tanah Lot Temple

The temple is located just offshore in the south west of Bali on a rock. It's roughly a 30-40min drive by cab from Seminyak (ca. 120.000Rp. with metered Taxi). The entire area around Tanah Lot is regarded as a holy to the Balinese. There has not been much tourism development in this part of the island but the Nirwana Golf resort just next to the temple.

 3. Jatiluwih Paddy-fields (Terrasering)

Jatiluwih is one the famous tourist destinations in Bali located in Tabanan regency, west part of the island offering the beautiful scenery of rice terrace with fresh atmosphere surround it. It is equal with its named of Jatiluwih where it is derived from two words ’Jati and Luwih’. Jati means real and Luwih means good or beautiful. The breathtaking panorama of rice terrace with mount Batukaru as backdrop is categorized as the most interesting scenery natures. It has been appointed as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in particular of Subak Organization as a fundamental of the local society life. The varieties of local rice planted in this area are very specific with the size of rice tree that are relatively higher than the normal rice planted in other area in Bali. Jatiluwih is also well known as an area with the organic agriculture.

4. Mount Batur

Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung, Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake.

5. Mount Agung

Mount Agung or Gunung Agung is a active volcano in Bali. This stratovolcano is the highest point on the island. It dominates the surrounding area influencing the climate. The clouds come from the west and Agung takes their water so that the west is lush and green and the east dry and barren.

6. Taman Ujung

Taman Sukasada (Suksada Park) is a beautiful park located at Ujung Village, around 5 km southern part of Amlapura Town. The park is laid out very beautiful and unique reminiscent to the Dutch colonial period because the architecture of the park is designed by European style. Now, this park has been refurbished into beautiful site that is swept by the tropical atmosphere make this site become peaceful which is suitable for relaxation. If you visit this site, you will be brought into a memorable of Dutch colonialism period as well as the buildings are designed based on European style that create the classic nuance so this park is a must place to visit on your vacation in the island of God.

7. Tegalalang Paddyfields

Tegalalang Rice village located on the north-south road from Kintamani and Ubud. Various woodcarvings can be found in this village and its neighbors. Very colorful carvings of flowers, animals and other designs are displayed along the road, and of course a beutiful ricefield.

8. Lempuyang Temple


Lempuyang Temple (Pura Luhur Lempuyang), also called ‘The Temple of Thousand Steps’ is located at the summit of Belibis Hill (Mount Lempuyang), 1.058 meters above the sea level, northeast of Mount Agung, Abang District, Karangasem Regency and about a 2 ¾ hours drive away from Kuta.

9. Tirta Empul Temple

Tirta Empul Temple possess a unique serenity that cannot be matched. This active prayer site inspires both Balinese Hindus and visitors of different beliefs. While there are several shrines and other structures on the premises, the temple's tranquility is best seen in the large rectangular pool at the complex's center. You'll see worshippers enter the water to pray, so be respectful of the Balinese customs and do not disrupt them. One TripAdvisor user says, "This temple is beautiful, a lot of water, green trees and plants, and a lot of locals with rituals. It's money well spent to get all the way here from Kuta."

10. Gitgit Waterfall

Gitgit Waterfall is a beautiful tourist destination in north part of Bali. Gitgit waterfall is located in the plateau area with the height about 35 meters and it is surrounded by tropical tree and emits the constantly natural water debit during the year. Waterfall voice around the charming nature was amazing and it was the separate attraction which can be enjoyed by each visitor who comes to visit. There are some plantations protecting the rain forest around the waterfall and in this place we often met the wild monkey to get the water from this waterfall.
